Ali Auburn

about ali

Born and raised in southern New Jersey, Ali grew up exposed to an eclectic range of artists and genres. Drawn to music from a young age, she started writing her first songs at age 6 and began training vocally at age 13. After teaching herself to play the guitar, she started performing her original songs locally — quickly catching attention for her heartfelt lyrics and standout vocals. Since then, she has become a seasoned performer with a steady stage presence, often showcasing her wit, humor, and infectious energy in between songs.

Her voice has been described as “angelic and pure, with just enough grit to stay interesting,” and while her live performances have been consistently praised, it is her passion and authenticity that audience members connect with most. The genuine nature of her performances and songs exhibit the fact that she has lived through her lyrics and that she has been healed through them. More profoundly, fans find healing through her music as well.

As an independent artist, some of Auburn's career highlights include opening local shows for national acts Chris Young, Zac Brown Band, and Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary). During his act, Peter Yarrow called Ali back onstage to perform “500 miles” together as a duet. Ali has also gained radio airplay in the U.S., U.K., and Canada, and has had media features in numerous U.S. publications.

In addition to her passion for music, Ali also used her passion for mental health advocacy to create an outreach called “Don't Forget to Love Yourself.” “DFTLY,” as Ali affectionately calls it, is a music-led mental health initiative aimed at promoting positive self-worth and suicide prevention. Through its nonprofit branch, DFTLY Foundation, she led events for middle & high school age students with messages of self-love and suicide prevention through song and storytelling.

In October of 2018, she released her debut album entitled “My Own Way.” Self-written and co-produced by Auburn, the album is a reflection of personal growth, creative freedom, and the courage to speak her truth.

Unfortunately, after releasing her debut album, Auburn experienced chronic health issues that forced her to step away from music. What followed was a multi-year period of burnout and creative silence.  Now, after nearly seven years away, Ali is back — more grounded, more fearless, and more ready than ever. With a renewed focus on songwriting and a clear sense of identity, she's continuing to make music that uplifts, connects, and heals.

Whether it is her voice, lyrics, or personality that initially draws you in, one thing is for sure: Ali Auburn will leave an impression.

Don't Forget to Love Yourself

Aside from music, two of Ali's biggest passions are mental health awareness and suicide prevention. These interests and her love of music led her to found DFTLY Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes self-worth and emotional healing through music, media, and entertainment.
